What do you have in common with Shakespeare?

September 23, 2011 at 7:49 am (fun sites)

One of my favorite websites to visit, since I am a word nerd, is the Oxford Dictionaries site.  You can find word origins and definitions for more obscure words there.  Recently, they posted an entry about Shakespeare to their blog.  Even though sometimes reading through Shakespeare’s work may seem like learning a foreign language, our speech may not be all that different from his.   Visit the Oxford Dictionaries site, copy and paste any English paragraph into the analysis box, and see what percent Shakespearean your speech is.  Mine was 88%.

We’ll give you an extra prize at next week’s TAB meeting if you post your percentage in the comments!
